Over the past year, the Equity Pole Dancers Working Party has drafted two separate contracts to be used in performance and teaching situations -- giving pole dancers a legal document with union backing in our goal to be treated considerately and professionally in the media and business worlds. These types of contracts, while common in other performance fields, are the first of their kind for pole dance performers. We've also explored issues of copyright and the internet -- an area sure to be of interest to anyone whose performance work is showcased online.

Additionally, joining Equity gives you fantastic public liability insurance for performance and teaching, access to free or reduced price medical services specific to dancers, tax advice, legal advice, and more!

And, with the new "Jacqui Smith Special" legislation currently proposed to Parliament which has the potential to classify all pole dance as "sex work," come join Equity both to have union protection in fighting this absurd piece of misguided nonsense and to stand in solidarity with other pole dancers in making your voice heard!
