UK Pole Dance Day 2010 - The art of dance open event in Plymouth
To celebrate the UK's 2nd national pole dance day the art of dance will be opening its pole dancing studio to members of the public from 2pm till 4pm on Saturday 1st May.The event is a chance to show friends, family and interested members of the public what modern fitness pole dancing is all about. The art of dance pole dancing instructors will be providing pole dance demonstrations during the open event to showcase the strength and agility required for high level pole dancing. ![]() The art of dance has been teaching pole dancing since March 2004 and have now moved into a fabulous self contained building with a 6 pole (50mm chrome x-poles) pole dancing studio and a burlesque studio too. The art of dance is Plymouth's only pole dance community approved pole dance school and it is proud to take no more than 2 students per x-pole for it's fitness lessons.
At the art of dance it is important for us to continue to educate the public about our art form as many people still wrongly perceive fitness pole dancing as something sleazy, the art form we teach is carried out in sports gear and bare feet and is taught to men, women and children. The art of dance is working with the Government initiative 'Change4Life' to encourage people to exercise more to avoid problems such as obesity and heart disease. The NHS is currently under great strain from treating preventable conditions and if we can encourage people to be a bit healthier and more active, then more NHS time can be spent on those with 'real' illnesses.
