Welcome to our latest featured new member - I would rather be Pole Dancing

The PDC Team - "What first got you into Pole Dancing"?

Nia - "I started Pole Dancing in 2004 because an instructor and I just fancied giving it ago. I researched on the internet and the closest place to High Wycombe with classes was Emily’s Vertical Art Classes in Milton Keynes. Emily was a fab instructor, she was approachable, friendly and created an atmosphere where you could laugh, learn & have a great workout at the same time."

The PDC Team - Who inspired you?

Back in 2004 my main influences were Emily of Polenastics (Formerly Emily’s Vertical Art) & KT Coates of Vertical Dance. I did my Pole Dancing Qualification with KT & found her grounded attitude ( even though she has been a pioneer in Pole Dancing & Fitness ) inspiring and motivating. She has come up against a lot of barriers to get Pole Dancing / Fitness where it is today. Now that I have been amongst the Pole Dance Community I have too many idols to mention! I could never do them all justice! It is such a friendly and supportive network of enthusiasts. I love it!

The PDC team - "When did you start up your own club"?

Nia - "I started teaching aerobics back in 2002 but started specializing in Pole Fitness 2 years ago. I was actually working 9-5 by day & then teaching Aerobics classes in the evening ( I love Fitness & Dance so could not handle just a pure 9-5 without it!) I set ‘I Would Rather Be Pole Dancing’ as my company name as I would sit at my desk and gaze out the window thinking those exact words…..

At first it was about bringing a whole new fitness concept to High Wycombe but I have made so many good friendships through it I honestly don’t know where I would be without them?! I love the fitness gains it brings ( constantly striving to master that new move / trick ) the social gains ( It becomes like a family and a lot of the students refer to me as their Pole mother….I kinda like that! ) also confidence wise I have so many ladies come to me with so many different stories, emotionally battered and bruised. For 60 minutes I can see they are enjoying themselves, I see they feel good about themselves even if its only for that hour they walk out of class with their head held high, they feel confident, they feel sexy…. I like the fact I can show them that they are."

The PDC team - "So tell us a bit more about yourself"?

Nia "A little about me?.... ok My Name’s Nia I’m a Virgo, 27, love my friends, love my family…. Just your normal average girl?!

The PDC team - "How many classes do you teach a week"

Nia - "I teach 5x1 hour Classes a week and 2 Personal Training Sessions outside those times."

The PDC team would like to thank Nia for her time and for representing the fitness pole dancing industry in such a positive manner.
