Cardiostriptease goddess Star Monroe took the Pole Dance Community interview so we could learn a little bit more about her and CardioStriptease:

What first got you into pole dancing?

Back in 2002 I was sitting in my kitchen at home in and watching a guy in America teach Cardiostriptease and thought wow, now that's interesting and I could do that!  At the same time I just started to learn pole dancing myself so put the two disciplines together and started classes in a local pole dancing club to teach women to harness their sensual powers to improve their confidence and Cardiostriptease UK was born!

What are your favourite pole moves

I love the flow you get from years of practice but recently I have been working on the more athletic moves such as the handspring, the twisted grip lift and trying to put those seamlessly into my routines.

Do you prefer spinning or static pole?

We are static girls through and through, but, we do dabble occasionally on the spinning pole - Suzie Q is a great teacher to learn from.

Do you use 45mm or 50mm poles?

I have a mixture of both poles in the studio where we teach but recently I have moved over to the 45mm as the moves are getting more athletic and gymnastic.

What sort of poles do you use?

We use X poles and Alistage - both are great poles for studio and home use.

Do you have a favourite grip aid

We have just converted to liquid chalk and find it amazing to help with grip.

What is your pole dancing nemesis?

Pantera's knee hold, it just hurts so much when ever I try it!

What sort of students have you worked with?

My clients are just fabulous with age ranges from 16 to 69.  I love clients that are willing to give anything a go and have fun doing it in the process.  Here is a testimonial from a CardioStriptease student:

"I have been with Cardiostriptease for 4 years now!  Strangely enough my osteopath recommended me to join Star's classes as a way of strengthening my back, as I had several bulging discs!  Now 4 years on I am a different woman, my body is toned, my confidence has skyrocketed, the classes are such fun and my back problems have resolved themselves through regular pole dancing.  Amazing"  Giovanna Travi-Brown.

What do you do aside from pole dancing

I also run The Pilates Studio, Kent and am writing my first book on helping women live sensational lives.  I also life coach, perform and work as an inspirational speaker.

Have you ever had any injuries from pole dancing?

The worst injury I ever sustained from pole dancing was many years ago, the pole wasnt tightened up enough and it dislodged with me on it and I cut the back of my head quite badly.  Over the years I have had various pulled muscles but when I recover I always come back stronger.
