- Pole Dance Community approved photographers will at all times present themselves and their photography services in such a manner as will uphold and dignify their professional status and the reputation of the Pole Dance Community.
- Photographers must have at least 5 different professional photos specifically of adult humans. Children, cars, landscapes, animals, etc do not count.
- One of these images must have a pole theme and shot in a professional photographic studio environment (or equivalent).
- These photos must be at least of two different persons or two different locations.
- Photographer must be able to provide at least two recent references.
- Photographers must have some form of public liability insurance
- PDC approved photographers shall exercise all reasonable skill, care and due diligence in the discharge or execution of their duties agreed to be performed by themselves giving consideration to the requirements of the client.
- Photographer must arrange for a suitable changing area where client may dress with no prying eyes.
- Photographer must keep some ‘distance’ and not invade the clients’ personal space in giving directions with poses.
- Assistants must only be in the room when it’s necessary (ex during setup or to hold a prop).
- PDC approved photographers will be fair and transparent with their fees and charges#. This will mean that a client will know exactly what they are getting for their money and will be informed of any additional charges. e.g. if a client pays £200 for a photo shoot they will be told how long the photo shoot will last and how many prints or digital images* they will get at the end of the project. A PDC approved photographer may for example state that the £200 photo shoot will include three finished 12 x 8 prints at high resolution; additional prints can be purchased at £10 each.
#Charges may include the following: Travel costs, consumables (pole/studio hire). N.B. For makeovers, the photographer must clearly state the extent of the hair & makeup styling, ie whether it’s basic or elaborate (ie like for a wedding)
*To avoid misunderstandings, the following must be clearly specified:
- The number of files.
- File format.
- Image dimension in pixels (not simply lo/high res).
- What digital retouching is included and what is extra.
- The cost for additional files.
- Turnaround time.
- License: rights-free (client does as they please) or rights managed (ex: cannot be given to third parties for ads etc).
- Watermarking.
- PDC approved photographers will do their best to ensure that images they produce of pole dancers will positively promote the pole dancing industry.
- PDC approved photographers will ensure that model release forms are signed wherever necessary and will explain to models exactly what they plan to do with any finished images, where possible, model releases to be emailed a few days before to give client a chance to read document.
- PDC approved photographers will not lay claim to any qualification that has not been properly achieved.
- PDC approved photographers will only attend an event in an official capacity where invited to do so by the promoters.
- PDC approved photographers will adhere to this code and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times.
- PDC approved photographers will provide links from their website to the PDC website and they will display the PDC logo on their website and any relevant promotional material.
Please Note that as with all PDC codes of conduct codes may be subject to change, the PDC welcomes feedback from photographers on how this code can be amended and improved. Pole dance photographers wishing to gain PDC approval will need to complete the registration form which can be downloaded here.
